3 – 4 tablespoon Carrot (Peeled and Grated)

1 – 1.5 tablespoon honey

1- 1.5 tablespoon lemon juice

1.5 – 2 tablespoon Cucumber (optional)

1.5 – 2 tablespoon beetroot ( can be used instead of carrot)

How to apply?

Mix all the ingredients and apply the mixture on the face.

Gently massage in upward and circular motions for about 5 minutes and focus on the spots and blemishes.

Apply a coating of the leftover mixture again and rest for 20-25 minutes

Wash with lukewarm water

Alternate: 

You can freeze the mixture in a cube-tray and use as a cleanser

Gently rub on the face for 3-5 minutes

Rest the face for 5-10 minutes 

Wash with lukewarm water

How often should it be done?

Apply this mixture for about 3-4 times a week in the beginning and later can do for 1-2 a week.

Oats

One of the most healthy food staples – oats. It is known for its aid in weight loss and maintaining a sound health.

Why oats for skin?

Oats contain compounds called saponins that help in naturally cleansing and purifying the skin. It helps in soaking the excess oil and hence helps in treating acne. It’s properties of anti-inflammation and antioxidants help in removing the dirt and oil that leads to clogging of the pores and thereby results in giving a cleansed and clear skin. Consequently, it reduces the itchiness and irritation of the skin.

The Beta-glucan present in oats aid in removing dead skin and deeply penetrate the moisture in the skin. As a result, it keeps the skin nourished and moisturized. Oats helps in protecting the skin from harmful UV rays as it has flavonoids that absorb chemicals, harmful sunrays, and pollutants.

How to use it?

Oats can be consumed as oatmeal or as a facial scrub, face mask, and cleanser.

What do you need?

Half cup Oats

1-2 tablespoon Honey

1- 1.5 tablespoon Yogurt

Rosewater

How to apply?

For cleanser or toner: 

Soak oats in water and apply the oat milk (soaked water) with a cotton pad or tissue on the face after washing.

For Facial Scrub and Facial mask:

Option -1 :

Blend the oats in a rough texture and add rose water 

Scrub on the face for 10 minutes

Wipe out the face with a damp towel

Option – 2 :

Blend the oats or can soak the oats in water for 5-10 minutes

Squeeze the oats and mix the oats with curd and honey

Add 0.5 – 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Apply the mixture to your face and neck and let it rest for 10-15 minutes

Once it gets dried, scrub gently on the face for 3-5 minutes 

Wipe out the face with a damp towel.

How often should it be done?

You can apply oats as a toner every day or every alternate day.

Apply the face mask and scrub mixture 2-3 times a week.

Home-made Ubtan

You may find home-made Ubtan old school, but this mixture of easily- available staple flours and ingredients is a delight fortune to get healthy and glowing skin acquired from our elder generations.

Why Home-made Ubtan for skin?

All the ingredients involved in making Ubtan are natural and possess cooling properties that help in removing sun-tan and dark – spots. Besan helps to remove the impurities and unclog your pores by soaking excess oil from the skin and is a good source for cleansing the skin. Rice flour contains nutrients like ferulic acid and allantoin that helps in protecting the skin from harmful UV rays. It also helps in keeping the skin elastic and firm. Turmeric has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that assist in reducing acne and blemishes. Almonds help in nourishing the skin as they are rich in Vitamin E.

Daily usage of Ubtan to exfoliate and cleanse skin makes your skin soft and aromatic because it reduces sweating, helps in minimizing the pores, keeps your skin soft, glowing, and healthy.

How to use it?

Ubtan can be applied daily instead of bathing soap or can be used as a scrub or face mask.

What do you need?

A cup of Gram Flour 

Half cup of Rice Flour

7-8 Almonds powder

1-2 teaspoon Turmeric powder

Rosewater (oily skin) or Raw Milk (dry skin)

Oats powder (Optional)

1.5-2 tablespoon yogurt (instead of milk)

How to apply?

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl by adding raw milk (for dry skin) or rose water (oily skin) and make a fine paste

Apply evenly on the skin and gently massage for 5-10 minutes

Rinse with lukewarm water

Essential Requirements to keep your skin healthy and glowing:

Cleanse your skin each time you step in your home from outside. It will help in reducing the effect of harmful pollutants on your skin.

Remove your makeup before going to bed

Cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin before sleeping and after waking up.

Do not use cosmetics that have harmful chemicals, even for seldom use.

Apply Sunscreen minimum 50++ SPF

Scrub twice a week

Don’t use expired cosmetic products

Maintain a healthy diet and drink plenty of water around 2.5 – 3 liters a day. Workout for a minimum of 10-15 minutes per day.

Try to apply whatever fruit you eat like papayas, apples, bananas on your skin

Get enough sleep minimum of 6.5 – 7 hours to avoid baggy dark circles and get a fresh and healthy look
