No matter what day it is, I get freaked out whenever I have to wear a saree. And, especially when you got to know about it just 48 hours before.

A whole lot of thoughts running in my mind on what to wear, how to style? and of course how to hide my big bloated stomach? Yes, I know my stomach would be bloated for the next few days because I know I am not going to stop eating pizza or delicious mom-made food for the next two days.

Oh ya! I forget to tell you, my mom was here for a week a few days back. I met her after eight months and it was a sight of delight to meet her. And, enjoy the tasty personalized food prepared by my mom.

So, though I had options available to stop eating things that can bloat my stomach, I didn’t opt for that. I instead chose to check for a few secrets where one can look slim in a saree with no tummy peeping.

What I wore and how I styled?

As I told you earlier, I just came to know about the whole ethnic day just 48 hours before. So, I started searching for what I can wear on the day and I was happy with nothing.

And, right when I was about to drop my idea of wearing a saree, I realized I have a saree locked up in my suitcase. So, I finally got the saree and paired it with a blue velvet blouse that belongs to my mom. The blouse is from the 1990s and I felt the whole essence of my look was doubled with that vintage blouse.

And, a cherry on top was the black tassel and oxidized necklace and the pretty earrings of my sister. Black heels played well with the black jewelry.

Further added a set of blackish-grey bangles mixed and matched with a few stones bangles that went well with the entire vibe.

And, here I have a large photo dump of my ethnic day outfit. Not flaunting, but I loved my look and all the pictures I got on the day.

How to look slim or get your shape lined in a saree?

So after watching quite a few youtube videos and reading several blogs. And, checking to wear saree in different angles, I landed in a successful solution.

So, saree experts would have known this earlier but a beginner like me got to know this now. And, here we go:

  • Keep your pallu open and falling
  • Drape the saree without keeping the ends loose i.e., keep the saree fitting close to your body to highlight your shape.
  • Opt to wear heels as it creates an slim illusion.
  • And, last but the easiest to do is to wear a saree shapewear instead of the usual saree petticoat.

For clicking images, keeping a side view towards the pallu side might cover your bloated stomach.

You can’t believe me? wait, let me show you the real-time pictures. I swear I didn’t edit them.

The image on the left portrays a slimmer figure and hides my stomach whereas the image on the right shows my bloated stomach bulging out.

So, next time you are planning to wear a saree and are worried about the bloated peeping tummy, do try one of these. It worked for me and hope it works for you too.

And, I just shared this with you because quite a few whom I know faced this problem and it gets too uneasy with a bloated stomach.
