Dharamshala – the holy place of Tibet, has been on my wishlist for a long time. I finally visited Dharamshala and Mcleodganj a few weeks back. Mcleodganj also known as Upper Dharamshala or The little village of Lhasa is where Dalai Lama lives in exile currently. Hence, adds the name “Capital in exile” to this place.
I can’t lower my excitement when I’m recalling my memories of this place. I stayed here for a really short time because I had planned to go to Manali. But, I made sure to cover almost all the must-visit sites of this Picturesque Hill station.

I started my day by visiting Norbulingka Cafe and Shop. This is a cozy cafe rich in Tibetan artifacts. The ground floor has been occupied by a small store and upstairs has very attractively designed seating. All the walls of the cafe have paintings and artifacts which are for sale. All the details about the art and Tibetan beliefs have been prescribed on several notes. This makes this cafe very attractive and interesting. Though the food wasn’t great.

I stayed at cozy Hotel which had a magnificent view of the Kangra valley. I took the zip line which stretches from Mcleodganj to Dharamshala. And, it is the best way to hop down to Dharamshala enjoying the breathtaking view of hundreds of green trees below and clear skies above.

Drool through the street shops at the temple road and take home a beautiful range of antique souvenirs.
Places to visit in Dharamshala
The places to visit in Dharamshala are the Kunal Patri temple, Cricket Stadium, Tea Gardens, and war memorial. Kunal Patri Temple is one of the Shakti-peeths in India. Cricket Stadium didn’t have much to offer but, the view of the snow-capped mountains gives you an insta-worthy pic.
Places to visit in Mcleodganj
Mcleodganj has terrific hill views, Tibet monasteries, and Temples to offer.
The best of all Places which has my heart is the BhagsuNath Falls. It is a small trek from the Bhagsunath Temple but, once you reach there you will be surrounded only by mountains and calmness. And, even here on the edge of the cliff, you can find cafes offering you hot momos, Maggi, and a lot more.
Triund Trek is the famous Trek of Mcleodganj but I couldn’t go for this. Dal Lake was more of a pond with horses gazing on the muddy grass. Dalai Lama Temple is a mandatory inclusion in your itinerary at Mcleodganj.

Mcleodganj has my heart. It drives away all the city hustles and fills you with the warmth of heavenly calmness.
